Got back from my choir chalet today-

It was pretty enjoyable. We booked a 2D1N chalet at Changi Aloha, Biggin Hill. It was supposed to be a potluck kind of thing, so I had to buy/bring some bread-spread. I went with Nutella and a Skippy peanut butter and jelly swirl. In the end, we wasted a lot of food, mostly carbs. Nobody ate my spread, so I had to bring it home again, and ended up giving the Nutella to Gervin.

A lot happened at the chalet. I wouldn't have expected anything less than that, though. It's at this age when we discover things. There was friendship, there was love, there was tension. There were also stupid but fun games. There was food, there was alcohol, there is plenty of photographic evidence. It's a bit embarrassing, though, but the morning found us hand in hand. :)

I had my first-ever performance in a mixed choir on Friday.

Thanks to all those who took time off to come watch me at the concert, it made me feel happy that there were actually people there to watch me.

I've been in the choir for three weeks now, and it's been so stressful. I had to memorise 19 songs, some of which aren't in English, and sing them perfectly on stage in front of an audience. Well, it wasn't all bad. The concert went really well, and I'm loving my CCA more and more. So many passionate people, so much good music, a feeling and environment so comfortable and familiar.

I feel like I've finally found a place where I belong.

WHOOPEE-YAY!

I started attending practices with my new choir at poly, and I love it! To be honest, it isn't what I was expecting. They did say they "really need people", so I just assumed it would be really bad, you know, going out of tune during every song and all that. When they started singing, I knew I'd gotten it terribly wrong.
Sure, they may not be the best choir around, but these kids are really passionate about what they do. Their faces literally light up when they start to sing. There's a happy, heart-warming feeling to it all. Paired with the dim, romantic lighting of the room, it's a beautiful sight to behold.

So far, the people there have been incredibly friendly towards me. No question, just acceptance. Rarely does one get to see such behavior in an entirely new environment. I guess I've just been trying to greet and talk to everyone, not a very good time to be shy, though perfectly understandable.
Ms Yip was right; being anti-social isn't the answer to any problem.
